What is a Proxy?

We have all been there. Needing to access our web-based e-mail, wanting to go to MySpace, Facebook, or that great site with all those great games to play, but you're at work or in school, or possible even in a foreign country, and all those sites you need are blocked.

Here is where you need a proxy. A proxy is a service that enables you to go to all the web sites you need, from locations where you normally wouldn't be able to, regardless of blocks or filters on that connection.

Another reason for using a Proxy is for security, but we'll cover that later in this how-to.
